As an all-female team at Hennelly Finance, we were delighted to attend an exclusive Irish Life Health Female Health panel event on 24 August, hosted by journalist and presenter Grainne Seoige.
It was such an open and honest panel discussion with well-known female contributors focusing on the specialised topics of female health, including menstrual health, fertility, peri-menopause, menopause, and more. Panellists included:
- Dr. Máire Finn, GP with a special interest in female health, in particular menopause, and is also a regular contributor to Claire Byrne Show, RTE1 and Clare FM
- Stefanie Preissner, Author, director and columnist for the Irish Independent who speaks candidly on her fertility journey following five miscarriages before the birth of her daughter Aurora in 2022
- Aoibhín Garrihy, Actor, Presenter and Irish Life Health ambassador and mum to three little girls and
- Chelsea Farrell, Former Miss Ireland, content creator and midwife student who was diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis. Chelsea is vocal about her personal journey and talks openly about her experiences.
Among the research Irish Life Health shared at the event was that 51% of women in Ireland, no matter what age, are worried about a female health issue at every stage of their life.
Recognising this, Irish Life Health has developed a specialist program for women and is the first health insurer in Ireland to give its members access to consultations with GPs who are experts in Female Health.
Each Female Health Consultation service is 20 minutes in duration and dedicated to female health.
Members will need to complete a short questionnaire prior to their consultation to help the doctor prepare.
If the member has chosen a video consult, a link will be sent via email 30 minutes before the consultation start time, making it quick and easy for members to access. If a phone consultation is selected, the GP will phone the member at the allocated time.
The service is not intended to replace a member’s usual GP but designed to give advice and support in the areas of menstrual health, contraception, fertility, menopause, and other areas of female health.
If follow-up face-to-face appointments, tests or screens have been recommended, the member can make an appointment with a Centric Health GP or with their own GP.
The Female Health Consultation benefit is covered on the following plans: 4D Health 1, Benefit, Benefit 2, Benefit Access 300, Benefit Access 500, Benefit Extra, Kick Off Plan ILH, MyPlan 150, MyPlan 150 Day to Day, MyPlan 350, MyPlan 350 Day to Day, MyPlan 500 and MyPlan 500 Day to Day.
As one of Ireland’s leading health insurance brokers, we are very excited about this new benefit from Irish Life Health and are looking forward to supporting our clients with further information and access to the service.
